Let’s Ride! The Tomorrowland Transit Authority Peoplemover!
In today’s Let’s Ride! post we are going to take a ride on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority Peoplemover (presented by Alamo)! It is located in Magic Kingdom in Disney World, in the section of Tomorrowland. While its official name is the Tomorrowland Transit Authority Peoplemover, many call it by various nicknames such as TTA, Super Skyway, or just simply the Peoplemover. It is a slow-paced 10 minute ride that starts at Rocket Tower Plaza just under the Astro Orbiter. Guests take a conveyor belt up to the second floor of the plaza and load a constantly moving tram which gives you a sky high backstage glimpse into some of the most popular attractions in Tomorrowland. Each open air tram can comfortably fit between 4-6 people so chances are you won’t have to split up your group.
As the ride begins you are whisked away from the platform passing the Astro Orbiter on your left going toward Cinderella Castle. You will pass the model of Walt’s vision of Progress City which was the inspiration for EPCOT.
Next, you will pass above Mickey’s Star Traders, an out of this world gift shop that sells various goods including mugs, t-shirts, hats and of course mouse ears! You will then come to pass the Tomorrowland Speedway on your left and head right inside of Space Mountain! You will emerge from Space Mountain and make a left toward the Carousel of Progress, which holds a record for the longest running stage show! What makes this attraction so unique is that the theater goers rotate around the stage as they watch a family move from the 1900’s all the way to the 21st century.
Next up riders will pass over Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger’s Spin, an exciting laser shooting gallery game where guests compete against each other to defeat the evil Zurg. When emerging from Space Ranger Spin look to your left and you will see Cinderella’s Castle! Pro tip: Ride at night for a spectacular view of the castle! *At night you will be experiencing a lot of darkness going through parts of this ride which may be scary for some young guests.*
Finally, you will return back to Rocket Tower Plaza and disembark your vehicle. Make sure to take all of your belongings with you and don’t forget It’s a great, big beautiful tomorrow, shining at the end of every day, there’s a great, big beautiful tomorrow, just a dream away!
