Coming soon to Walt Disney World Resort, a brand-new sky-high way to travel! Announced at the D23 Expo in 2017, Disney is constructing a new gondola system called the Disney Skyliner! Disney World offers convenient transportation methods to its parks, resorts, and Disney Springs like its bus service, boat, monorail, and the Minnie Van. This new transportation system will be a fun new way for guests to travel to Epcot and Hollywood Studios from some of the nearby resorts! According to Disney there will be six Skyliner station stops, giving guests some absolutely spectacular views that you can’t get by boat, bus, or even monorail!
Disney’s Pop Century and Art of Animation Resorts Station
Sitting between the Pop Century and Art of Animation resorts is a beautiful scenic lake called Hourglass Lake. Connecting these two resorts is the Generation Gap bridge and it is just a short walk from either. This bridge is where the first stop of the Skyliner is being constructed and it looks to be a perfect blend of these two resorts!
Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort Station
Our next stop on the Skyliner system is the Caribbean Beach Resort. This is a fun resort with a laid-back feel, just as if you were in the Caribbean! Currently, this resort is undergoing many refurbishments as they are not only adding the Skyliner stops, but also re-imagining the entire Old Port Royale Food Court, as well as Shutters at Old Port Royale, Cabana Pool Bar, Calypso Trading Post, and the Goomba Games arcade. At this station guests can take a stroll by the waterside or transfer gondolas to go to Hollywood Studios or continue on to Epcot! Here is an artist rendering from D23 of what the new Skyliner station will look like when completed!
Disney’s Hollywood Studios Station
Guests arriving at the Hollywood Studios Skyliner station will be able to see unbelievable views of many of the park’s iconic attractions, including the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror!
Disney’s Riviera Resort Station
Another announcement that came from D23 this past year was a new Vacation Club resort called the Disney Riviera Resort. This resort is set to open in 2019 and it will bring a feel of southern France to central Florida! This station will bring guests to and from the action of Hollywood Studios and Epcot in grand style!
International Gateway at Epcot Station
This station will be greatly inspired by the surrounding pavilions of France and Italy and will be adorned with beautifully hand painted murals, ornamental structures all within an Art-Nouveau inspired 18th century style. Guests arriving here will get spectacular views of the World Showcase!
The new Skyliner gondolas will have some of the most familiar Disney characters on the outside of the vehicles including those from popular movies, cartoons, and Disney World attractions!
We can’t wait for this new transportation system to open! We will update this post as Disney releases more information so keep an eye for future updates!
