Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is coming to both Disney World and Disneyland in 2019! The much anticipated Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open at Disneyland in summer 2019 and at Disney World in fall 2019. There will be so much to do and so much to see at these new lands.
A Galaxy Far, Far Away!
Park guests will immerse themselves in a galaxy far, far away on the planet of Batuu. This planet is a remote outpost on the galaxy’s edge that was once a busy crossroads in the time before lightspeed. It has become a safe harbor for those who are seeking shelter from the First Order.
There will be two attractions that will put guests in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance!
Announced at D23 Destination D, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will feature two signature attractions when it opens at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort. The two attractions are: Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run!
Board a Star Destroyer
The first attraction at Batuu, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, will be the biggest built in scale ever at Disney Parks. It will immerse guests inside the hangar bay while in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance. Additional details of this attraction have yet to be released.
Fly on the Millennium Falcon
Ever wonder how cool it would be to board and fly the Millennium Falcon?! You will be able to do just that! The Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run will be the second attraction opening in this new land at both Disney World and Disneyland in 2019.
Guests will be tasked with a unique mission aboard the Millennium Falcon. Each guest will be have a job in the cockpit – pilot the ship, shoot blasters, or prepare for hyperspace!
Your performance on the mission will be important! Perform well and you can earn extra galactic credits. However, if the Millennium Falcon is damaged on your mission then you may be put on the bounty hunter’s list. If you dare to show up at the Cantina then you may have to face the consequences!
Here’s a sneak peak of Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run:
Stop by the Cantina
Speaking of which, guests can stop by the Cantina for some unique foods and refreshments, including blue milk. That’s right, blue milk! This is the famous blue milk that Luke Skywalker drank in Star Wars: A New Hope! There will be other concoctions served at the Cantina. Rex, the pilot from Star Tours, will serve as the DJ at the Cantina.
Star Wars Characters
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will feature many Star Wars characters including BB-8, Chewbacca, First Order officers, Stormtroopers, and many more. You will be able to interact with Star Wars characters around Batuu. Just keep an eye out for the First Order!
Batuu will feature a collection of shops and merchant stalls for guests to purchase souvenirs before they depart back home. One of the stalls, Toydarian Wares, will be overseen by Toydarian who was first encountered on Tatooine in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.
