Opening Dates Announced for Galaxys Edge

UPDATE: All You Need to Know for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge!

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be opening this summer at Disneyland Resort and this fall at Walt Disney World Resort.  You will get to walk through the village of Black Spire Outpost on the planet of Batuu.  It will feature two major attractions, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, and so much more!  Disney released even more details on villager costumes, foods, and more!

UPDATE:  Disney Parks has confirmed that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open on May 31, 2019 at Disneyland Resort and on August 29, 2019, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Disney World!

The immersive land will encompass 14 acres in Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort.  At Disneyland Resort, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will have three entrance points:  Critter Country, Fantasyland, and Frontierland.  Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will have two entrance points at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort.

The entrances to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will have short enclosed passageways between lands.  This is designed to compress and then expand the view of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.  Imagine walking through the passageway and your first sight of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is a carefully framed, cinematic view!

Cast Member Attire & Costumes

First Order and Resistance Costumes

The Disney Cast Members will be in full Star Wars attire and costumes at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.  Regardless of your allegiance, you will be able to interact with the Resistance and First Order.

Villager Costumes

There will be local Batuuans roaming through Black Spire Outpost.  You will be able to interact and learn from the villagers.  Some are Resistance sympathizers, but others may be First Order loyalists.

Jedi Attire

The villagers don’t have to be the only ones to dress the part.  You can also dress as a Jedi.  The Black Spire Outfitters is a clothing boutique that will offer Jedi attire for the entire family!

Play Disney Parks App

Upon entering Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the Play Disney Parks mobile app will switch to Star Wars mode.  You can use the app to translate languages and signs, participate in missions, learn what’s hidden inside crates and containers, and message with characters like Hondo Ohnaka.  You can also use the app to interact with antenna arrays, door panels, media screens, and even hack droids!

Black Spire Marketplace

Black Spire Post has a marketplace with various shops for visitors to purchase souvenirs.  At the Droid Depot, you will be able to build your own droids (R-series or BB-series) from parts and pieces you pick from a conveyor belt.  The droids will be able to interact with elements in the land and respond to guests’ behaviors.  You can purchase additional programming chips and accessories to further customize their abilities.

You can even purchase pre-built droids like C-3PO, who will have quite to say if you take off his head and put it on backwards, and Rex who will pair up with your smartphone via Bluetooth and play your favorite music.

Savis Workshop

At Savi’s Workshop, you can draw upon the Force and build your own custom Jedi or Sith lightsaber.  At the heart of the lightsaber is a kyber crystal.  During guided tours, you will be able to choose from four crystals:

  • Defense (shrouded in mystery)
  • Elemental Nature (harnessing air, earth, fire, and water)
  • Peace Justice (modeled after Jedi from the Republic era)
  • Power Control (a nod to the Sith)
Creature Stall

At the Creature Stall, you will find unusual creatures from across the galaxy, ranging from the friendly Porgs and Tauntauns to the menacing Rathtars and Wampas.

Toydarian Toymaker

At the Toydarian Toymaker, you will find adorable Star Wars toys.  Here you will find Star Wars plush characters, wood and tin toys and trinkets, and instruments that can be played and come pre-loaded with in-universe music!

Dok-Ondar

At Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities, you will be able to find ancient Jedi and Sith artifacts, holocrons, lightsabers, stone carvings of Jedi warriors, and more rare artifacts from across the galaxy.

Food and Beverages at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

We have all been waiting to learn about the unique foods and beverages that will be offered at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.  We finally get to see all the delicious offerings that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will serve!  There will be several locations where you can enjoy foods and beverages, like Ronto Roasters, Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, and Oga’s Cantina!

Ronto Roasters

Ronto Roasters will feature mouth-watering sandwiches like the Ronto Wrap (pictured above).  It is filled with Portuguese sausage, roasted pork, topped with cabbage slaw, and a grilled pita.  You can complete your sandwich with a side of Turkey Jerky.  You will have a variety of non-alcoholic beverages to choose from like the Meiloorun Juice (pictured above), Sour Sarlacc, or Tatooine Sunset.

Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo

Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo will have a larger selection to choose from.  Some of the featured entrées are:

Dessert options include chocolate cake with white chocolate mouse and coffee custard, and raspberry crème puff with passion fruit mousse.

In addition to the main entrées, Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo will offer two children’s menu options:  fried chicken with macaroni and cheese, and chilled shrimp with vegetables and rice noodle salad (with sweet orange dressing).

Oga’s Cantina

At Oga’s Cantina, you will have a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.  Let’s take a look at the non-alcoholic beverages:

From left to right (pictured above) are the non-alcoholic beverages at Oga’s Cantina:  Carbon Freeze, Oga’s Obsession, and Cliff Dweller.  These drinks include the bursting bubbles which will make these drinks so refreshing!

You can also try the following drinks (pictured above, left to right):  Moogan Tea, Blue Bantha, Bloody Rancor (contains alcohol), and the Black Spire Brew.

You can also get Blue Milk at Oga’s Cantina.  You may recognize the Blue Milk when Luke drank it in Star Wars: A New Hope.  Around the Black Spire Outpost, you will find the Milk Stand that will offer Blue and Green Milk.  They will also offer frozen iterations at the Milk Stand.
